Art MacQueen grew up in the Detroit, Michigan area and attended Eastern Michigan University. After meeting his wife Gingie, a bartender at ‘one’ of his favorite watering holes, they were married six months later and have celebrated 43 anniversaries since. With two grown children they now get completely worn out regularly by their five grandchildren and are very thankful for it.
Having had two great careers, Art found he was absolutely terrible at retirement, twice. “It’s just too boring!”. So, in a strange twist he decided to work for free at his Rotary habit.
While visiting a client in Daytona Beach, Art was invited to guest at a Thursday morning Rotary meeting. Knowing little about Rotary but recognizing it as an opportunity to sell telephone equipment, he said yes to breakfast not knowing Rotary would become his next job. Strangely enough, although it’s the most fulfilling job he has had, it monetarily pays the least, absolutely nothing!
Art is among the thousands of members worldwide, that joined Rotary simply because someone asked. Having served his club in near every possible position, followed by numerous district positions including District 6970 Governor in 2013-14 and following that, numerous positions beyond the district, including the honor of chairing this year’s Naples event.
In addition to those grandkids and Rotary the MacQueens can be found paddle boarding , boating, golfing, and doing most anything outdoors. They are Major Donors, Bequest Society members and Art is a member of the Paul Harris Society
