Saving Lives with Medicines is a joint multi-year project between Rotary District 6920 and MAP International to partner with free and charitable clinics in Georgia to provide medicines and health supplies to uninsured populations. Medicines are a key component of essential healthcare that are unaffordable to many individuals and families. In 2019, half of all U.S. adults reported that they or a family member put off or skipped medical care due to costs. The Saving Lives with Medicines project was launched in 2017 to directly address this issue by providing medication and health supplies to local clinics at no cost to the clinic or patients. Targeting medication access for chronic disease management (asthma, diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol), along with other essential medication such as antibiotics, and health supplies, the Saving Lives with Medicines project has already reached over 5,000 people with more than 10,000 treatments. With the efforts to stop ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks across the nation’s high risk communities, MAP is continuing to provide support to front line clinics – ensuring the safety of staff and patients. We are currently seeking partnerships with additional Rotary Districts to expand access to medicines in the hardest hit communities across Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Virginia, West Virginia, Texas and Connecticut.
